Guests name is not the same name as in profile

So I’ve read the policies on 3rd party booking. Airbnb does not allow. I wanted to get familiarize with my guest asked a little about themselves turns out the name they gave us is not the same as their profile name  .. I’m assuming profile belongs to a parent . Since I read their profile reviews .. it mention the persons name on profile and their son .. the picture is of a woman late 40’s. The guest said their age is 20 years old I can’t tell it if it’s a male their name is not common and I haven’t asked . My question is .. should I flag / report profile ? Or should I kindly messsge as to what I’ve come across ?  They seemed very excited & looking fwd to their stay Or cancel their rsvp since it was an IB . I’m not sure what to do ? My first time as a host .

Hello @Liz300 ,The booker must be the person mentioned in the profile. A 3th party booker is somebody making a reservation for another person (it is not allowed, unless booker owns a business account). But in this case the booker is using another persons account. Which is a violation of Airbnb terms. This person should first create his/her own account and then book your place.

Best regards, Emiel

@Liz300 first of all, you should never cancel (at least not without involving AirBnB support so as to avoid penalties).

It is also too early to flag / report the profile.

It would be appropriate to let the guest know you are confused by the photo and name, and to ask for clarification. For example:

"Hello! I have been told that it is important for a host to be able to positively identify the arriving guest for everyone's security. (To be sure we are handing keys to the right person.) Could you clarify which person in the photo is you, and also what name you prefer to be addressed by? I want to be able identify you and greet you properly."

If they are not pictured in the profile photos, then ask them to add a photo that shows their face clearly.
