Guests never checked in

Aloha all! I’m super stumped, please advise.

A few months back I got a reservation saying she was renovating and her and her daughter needed a place to stay, I accept. A few days prior I send directions and ask when they’ll check in. She responds she’s not sure and asks if that’s okay. Assuming she meant she wasn’t sure of the time that day I told her where the keys where and door was unlocked.  One of them came by for about five minutes and left, didn’t take the key or leave anything and hasn’t been back.

It’s a 5 day stay, we’re now on day 3 and no one has come or responded to multiple messages from me asking if everything is okay.

I have notified them today that doors are locked and to let me know if they’re coming. I’m just so confused! This has never happened! We get great reviews...

If such messages were via Airbnb that be great. I would not go any further, till further notice. I have had this happen more than once - no one showed up at all, on one case I heard from them a year later.

Hello @Courtney100 ,

Guests not showing up (OK, for 5 minutes) and also no canceling their reservation. It's an easy way to earn money. I would also be confused, but maybe inform Airbnb about the situation and ask for advice ? Just to protect yourself from a weird review or complaint.

Best regards, Emiel

I have never called Airbnb in such cases, thinking that maybe they call the guest, they get too chummy,  and the request for refunds will come up. Sometimes silence is golden.

@Courtney100 The guest is reserving time as well as a space.

You agree to provide time AND space.

The room has been reserved by the guest for their exclusive use and you have provided that to them.

It doesn’t matter if they show up, it was there for them as promised.

We have a disappearing commodity. You will never be able to sell yesterday’s date.

As long as you live up to your end of the bargain, I say leave it alone and give them a big Shaka for the easy money.

BTW- Shout out to Princeville and Shark beach!

‘You know it’s hard out here for a Host’

Tight logic there Rene, @Courtney100 did her part.
