Again, with no discussion, nor even an announcement, much less considering any host feedback, Airbnb seems to have eliminated the Superhost program.
I just noticed that the new homepage for your listing, which previously featured a section tracking your Superhost status, now has nothing at all about Superhost on any of the pages for your listing. We had JUST completed a full year qualifying as Superhosts, which previously entitled us to a $100 certificate toward a rental. Now, crickets chirping -- not a word about Superhost status.
Not that it ever seemed to mean much anyway, but this is yet another host-unfriendly move with zero notice or consultation.
Apparently the new model is rather to threaten with suspension hosts who fall below a certain threshold -- all stick, no carrot. Way to go, Brave New Airbnb.
Hi Cathy,
I still see my Superhost status and metrics. Maybe this is being tested, rolled out to a select group of users or a temporary glitch?
Okay, never mind -- I finally found the Superhost info by clicking on an inconspicuous tab "view details" in the small section on the front page. It sure is hidden, though!
@Ana7 There is a 24 hours period just before the allocation of badges that your superhost status disappears, but if you have met the requirements it returns the next day. You receive a congratulatory email and....there it is.
Superhost is no big deal, it will keep you more prominent in the search listings, and in some countries it will give you access to a superhost hotline so make a note of that number because if you do have problems with a hosting you get far speedier attention using your superhost phone contact number.
If you are hosting in a country that does not have dedicated superhost hotline numbers what will happen, when you call help you will be asked to insert your registered ABB phone number and press the # key. If the system recognises that the phone number you are calling from matches your registered ABB number you will be immediately put through to the help desk.
Some hosts thrive on having the badge and strive to do better....others will sit on their laurels and think that having it means they can relax and not try any more.
Take what you want from it but just remember, it's a reward for past achievements and doesn't really have a baring on what will happen in the future......so keep it in perspective!
Congratulations Ana
Cheers.....Rob
Frankly, the Superhost program should be eliminated if they are going to continue to use the metrics they currently use. I just lost my Superhost status because of one review that didn't like the location. This one metric is cheating countless hosts out of a status that they work their butts off to get. Location rating is subjective and should not be considered when evaluating the performance of a host.
There is already a star rating system for the property itself. Include location ratings in that, not the Superhost qualifications.
Already shopping around for a property management company -- Aribnb has completely forgotten about the reason it makes money: hardworking hosts.
Hello @Cathy65,
I hope you don't mind, I have moved your thread here out of Host Voice, as this is for Idea suggestions and moved it to the 'Hosts' board, as you will be able to continue the discussion here.
Just to say the Superhost programme is still running. As others here have mentioned, as we are presently in the Superhost review period there is a little movement around this, so I imagine it may take a week or so to settle down again.
I hope this is fine with you.
Thanks,
Lizzie

My husband and I had Superhost status for over a year and being a teacher, I liked seeing that Superhost badge on our listing. It's kind of like a gold star. We planned an extensive remodel of our house which required that we moved into our Airbnb space. I called Airbnb and asked how we should proceed. A very helpful young man, Dustin, said we could set our listing on Snooze during the remodel and when we were ready to put it back up, we would still have our Superhost status. Our remodel turned into an 11 month marathon but we took it off Snooze two days ago and have a return guest staying with us. But the Superhost badge is gone, so I'm online trying to research what happened.
OMG!!! I totally agree and please, have you been treated like the cast out from the **bleep** COMMUNE!!! ? I have been hung up on 6 times in the last 6 months from the "commune" and of course they have my phone number and seem to not be able to call me back. I also wonder if anyone has had an issue with receiving an email to "unblock" dates to get more bookings and all of a sudden you have an instant booking of a date that you had blocked because of course you had a guest on that date and then are penalized because you had to cancel the booking. Airbnb does not take any responsibility because their system does not track the date that you have that you blocked. Just saying
