How do I change my availability from always available to specific dates only?

I thought I had clicked the correct option when creating my listing, but now I am not sure how to change it. Rather than having all dates available and be able to block some (which I know how to do), I want to say that my place is not available except during specific times.

How do I change this? It is impractical for me to go in and block every date that the place is not available, as I only rent out my place when I am not in town.

Hi,

If you only rent your place while you are out of town and you do not want the "impractical" way of blocking out dates, my suggestion would be to either unlist your place when you are not renting it and then relist it when you do want to rent it out.

I've been trying to figure this out too, with no luck at all. I'm very suprised more people aren't struggling with this. I only rent my house out while I'm out of town, so I want my calendar to 'start out' as unavailable by default, and I want to choose which dates it's availbale.

As it is now, I'm manually blocking out dates, but there's always an ongoing period where it's listed as availabe. I feel really bad when guests request these dates and I have to decline them. Plus I assume this is affecting my hosting status. 

Does anyone else have a solution to this?

I've got this problem as well; the best solution I've found is to just block book dates in advance. I'm blocked up until March 2020 by blocking out 6 months at a time - not sure what the max date range is but 6 months seems to work...
