I am wondering how I can verify a potential house guest? I know airbnb does this, but I would like proof, like a last name I can look up or a drivers liscense or something that proves who they are. This is my private home and I would like to know the person who is coming to stay with us. Any advice/suggesitons?
Thanks
Looking for same here. Just a face and first name does NOT seem adequate. Hosts really need a bit more info. Can't even find em on facebook this way.
At this point the only thing I know that you can do is ask for this infomation from the guest directly.
I presume from your comments you are new to BNB. If so it's worth you taking the time to become familiar with how BNB works before your listing goes live.
If you read the information BNB provides for hosts on their website you will see that you can have your settings so that only fully verified guests can book your place. This means they need photo ID as well as social media.
You can go into your listing and adjust this if you haven't set it up.
Some hosts asks guests for the name of each guest staying and then check them out online. However guests don't need to provide it and some might be reluctant for personal security reasons

I DO have it set so they must be verified. But this does NOT include a facebook contact. It does not even require THEM to provide me a first and last name. Only that it has been verified by someone else. I can see the "have" email and a phone, but it does not display these.
ALSO, I am requiring them to have a photo ID, and recommendations from other hosts. But again I can't see any of this (like guest recommendation or copy of the drivers license).
Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place for the guest profile. I just try clicking on their photo.
ALSO.... (sorry forgot this). I only see the ONE person booking. I don't see ANYTHING on the second guest. Husband/boyfriend. Seems if two people want to book there should be some info. on person number 2....
Rob you are correct. Airbnb has that data, but not you. This is from the guests side, their protection. Airbnb has their personal data, and has verified it, but they have not shared it with you the host.
If you want that information, they only way to get it is to ask the guest and have them supply it.
Once you accept the guest's reservation, it shows their contact details. I have tried to find ways around the system especially when someone has to book for another person (an employee, family member etc.) Unfortunately lots of guests don't understand how airbnb messaging blocks all contact information. I describe my email address and hope they can figure out how to message me off the site. It's a bad workaround though.
