Since our Airbnb suite is within our home, our expectation for stays longer than one night is that guests are out for the better part of the day (10-4). Is this a fair expectation? Any suggestions on how to communicate this AND sound welcoming as well?
That would very much depend on why you need them gone, do you work from home and space is limited?
We work at home and would utilize space adjacent to the guest suite when no one is there. Most guests do go out during the day but we have had a few who “hang out” and we realized that we have not articulated this expectation.
If you need the guests to gone from 10-4 @Aileen32 you need to clearly state that in your listing, as well as making sure a prospective guest is aware of this requirement by messaging them prior to approving their booking. I think this would be really difficult if using IB, and problematic in general.
Some guests go on vacation just to relax and get away from their busy lives and committments. They have no desire to go out and about, visit local sites, shop, or avail themselves of activities in the area. They want to sleep late, read a book, watch movies, whatever.
Personally I think it's a lot to expect that guests pay for a space but are then restricted from using it for 6 hours a day.
