Snooze you listing to prevent enquiries otherwise it will affect your response rating - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/help/article/476/how-do-i-snooze-or-deactivate-my-listing

I would suggest that if you are going away for 2 weeks that you snooze your calendar for approximately 2-3 months. Reason for the lengthy period is that although not impossible, you are unlikely to receive enquiries that far ahead. However if you snooze only for the 2 weeks duration when you will be away, a guest might send you and enquiry or booking request for 3 or 3weeks ahead but if you don't see you messages within those two weeks then you can't respond. When you return just deactivate the snooze.

Hope this helps,

Ama

Is this correct? I don't think so--I think snoozing means nobody can see the listing at all for the time it's snoozed—it's not blocked for those dates, just completely invisible—so nobody can inquire about any date, no matter how short the snoozed time is. Does anyone know?

Yes, that's correct it completely blocks the listing for that period.

Allen's question is 'What do we do if we are not able to respond for a few daws or weeks'. This would suggest that they will not have access to their Airbnb messages. Let's say for example Allen will be away from 1st July to 14th July and he snoozes his calendar for this period 1st -14th July. Nobody can see his calendar during this time but a guest might be looking for accommodation for end of July and e-mail an enquiry or booking reservation. Due to lack of access, Allen won't know about this e-mail and therefore unable to reply which might affect his rating.

You got me thinking now.....

Thank you very the response to this question. I was recently on a trip with limited internet access. I had several bookings for my home while I was away and communicated instructions to the guests before I left plus I had a friend house sit just in case a guest needed something. However, I had a nervous guest who needed extra guidance and reassurance who emailed me while on his way with last minute questions. Of course I didn't see this email until almost a week later. If there was a vacation response option for hosts I could have sent him an auto-response with my friends contact info. But this didn't happen because I thought I had taken care of things as much as I could. But even though everything went fine with his visit, my lack of a response affected the review that he left.

I also had a couple of booking requests and inquiries while I was away for dates after my trip. It would be nice for the potential guest to receive some sort of notice it even have it in the listing like "this host is currently unavailable for contact or booking requests until whatever date. This does not mean that the listing is unavailable for the time that you requested. Please leave an inquiry and you will be notified etc." something like that for listings, and for already booked guests a auto-response which could include extra instructions or alternate contact information.
