Question about cancelation

Question about cancelation

Hi guys,

On saturday I will be hosting a new guest into my appartment for just one night. However, today I broke my foot and therefore am not only worried that I will not be able to clean the appartment properly for his arrival (I take care of cleaning myself as labour in Switzerland is extremely expensive), but that given that I've been given house rest that it would be better for me to stay in my own home and rest instead of sleeping on my friend's couch as I was planning on doing.

How do you think Airbnb would treat this issue?

I really need the moeny so I am hesitating on whether or not I should suck it up and figure out a solution but at the same time these really are extenuating circumstances that Airbnb should be able to udnerstand...

Thanks for your responses.

Hello @Megh0,

Please take care of yourself.

I don't think airbnb will offer any concession here. You can try 2 things:

1) Convince the guest that you are unwell and won't be able to host and request them to cancel the booking.

2) If the guest refuses, atleast they'll know when they arrive that you've hurt yourself so they won't expect too much. If you have any friends who could help you with the cleaning, request them for a favour if it's worth.

If both options fails, please cancel the booking yourself, bear the penalty and take care of yourself, remember health is wealth 🙂

Wish you a speedy recovery

Jeet

@Megh0 Your situation just might be covered under Extenuating Circumstances for host cancellations.  It's worth contacting Airbnb to see if they agree.  Here are links for both topics:
