Refund - how is it determined ???

We have had the first "more than strange Host" experience as we booked a apartment in Makarska - Croatia for a few days.

We checked in like normal, beeing met by a non-english speaking woman who delivered us the key, and put our stuff inside an went out for th beach and a late dinner. Ad we got home - we discovered the bed was broke under the matress as the mattres sunk tru the hole - and had to simply sleep on the floor until the issue could be taken up with the host the next morning.

After a rough nights sleep - we instantly called the "owner" - and met a guy who claimed that they had over 100 propertys - and a refund would be out of the question. Further on he claimed that we where fat and that we had broke the bed. (Wife 52 kilos, me 99). I was left almost speachless of his rude behaviour and escalated the case with ABB customerservice - asking for a refund for this night only - and alerted that if the bed was left unattended - i would ask a new refund for another night.

Anyhow - we asked for a refund for the night the bed was unusable only - and that was NOK 814,25 - the host made a counter offer of NOK 287,38 and ABB customer service forwarded the offer to us - along with a 100 USD cupon expiring next year. So - should we take it ???

In my head this just sound bad - both for the unconvinience and the fact that we leave a good portion of money to the host. And most likely - he will continue his rude behaviour to the next guest. I realize that MY problem will be solved - but what about the next one ?? And as a apartment is used basically to sleep in - while the rest of the day is spendt elsewhere, I feel that the unconvinience of sleeping on the floor should add up to the value of the total day ???

Have the others of you some good feedbacks - and opinions ???

@Bjørn-and-Vibeke0 i am sorry for your unpleasant experience

If your bed is now repaired then maybe it would be better to stay at this accomodation and spare yourself of a research and relocation to another place.

If your bed is still broken then you can contact Airbnb and ask for more refund,  cancellation and relocation.... or you can buy a hammer and repare it by yourself in few minutes .

I would probably take their offer and repair it by myself . But I like quick and stresfree solutions ... and I am ok with tools 😄
