Can anyone explain WHY there is only a 14 day window in which to write a review? I had a couple who stayed 5 weeks, were delighted and wanted to write a great review, but due to their travelling committments and lack of internet , were unable to do so within 14 days of their visit. Since positive reviews play such an important role in providing feedback, in whos interest is it to have a time limit? On this occassion, not mine!
@Catrin6, I can understand being upset at missing out on what would probably have been a terrific review.
It isn't like there is NO reason for the 14 day window. Think about what would happen if there were an unlimited time in which to write reviews:
When would reviews be posted? As soon as either the host or guest write one? This is a recipe for not being able to write a frank and honest review. There is a terrific reason your review does NOT appear until the other party has written theirs: to avoid retaliatory reviews.
So if it makes sense to not publish reviews until both have written one, what happens if either the guest or host never writes a review. If one is following the logic that reviews should not appear unless the other party writes a review, then terrible guests (or hosts) would just never write reviews. That way the people who have a right to complain about them would never be able to post their warnings about bad behavior.
Well, then, let's fix that by publishing reviews anyway, even if the other party hasn't written a review. We'll just do it after a reasonable amount of time.
