Submitting changes - extra days \ people - goes into "never-never-land" if guests ignore it

Last week I had a guest who needed to stay an extra day.  Since he could not figure how to do it, I went into change reservation for him.  It said for at least 4 days after the guest left that it was waiting for the guest approval.  Then on day four, it went away and I never got paid.  I did go into the resolution center and made a request that way, so more than a week later, I got the payout. 

 

My issue is that it just drops if the guest doesn't respond \ approve.  Why doesn't it get uploaded to AirBNB to resolve and get me paid?  Once the reservation check is over, you can't put the change thru anymore, so off to the resolution center again.  

 

 

Also, I'm getting really tired of the guest not reflecting the correct number of guests when they book.  I bring it to their attendtion "its AirBnb policy to reflect the total # of guest -- including infants".  They say they can't figure out how to put the change thru themselves.  Same scenario, I put a change in for them and it is totally ignored by the guests.

Elizabeth, it seems that you just need to vent your frustration today.  Certainly can understand that!  You have lovely listings and many, many positive reviews so obviously you know what you are doing.  I have seen several discussion threads in which the hosts are experiencing a wave of first time Air BNB users who are clueless about the system.  I wonder if you are having the same experience and have to hand hold the guest with reminders, etc.  Anyway, we are here for you!!

Hello @Elizabeth10, so timely!  I guest for whom I refunded the cleaning fee (due to the Delta airlines mess he never arrived) by making a change to the reservation contacted me today and let me know that he never received the refund.  He must not have approved the change - just like your guest.  It would have been very helpful if airbnb had sent me a message saying that the change request was about to expire.  

 

I had several requests for the incorrect number of guests.  I try to catch it before accepting, but twice I did not and had to make the change and hope the guest accepted....luckily they both did.  This is a very good reason not to enable instant book.
