Trouble with Australian couple in Dublin

Trouble with Australian couple in Dublin

I am new to AirBnB and up until this morning I was enjoying the experience. I have just asked my guests to leave after one night of a two night stay. The husband shouted at me at 8am this morning and was aggressive. He launched into an attack because they couldnt find crockery, they couldnt sit & eat their meal and they had no hot water for an evening shower. My kitchen/dining is not available & cearly stated on the site (€30 per night for double room & private bathroom with parking) there was enough hot water for two quick evening showers however in an effort to gain more water for themselves they broke my hot water emersion switch. I typically set teh timer for an morning shower and not an evening one. I was not home last night as I was volunteering in the city so I was not there to greet them. When I asked him to remove his shoes when going upstairs this morning he point blank told me I could "stick it up my £$%^ and when I questioned about their tampering with the emersion switch he looked fidgetty & said he had no hot water.

I was willing to come to an agreement & have a discussion about use of my kitchen, the foot stains on the carpet & the broken switch however being intimidated in your own home is not the spirit of AirBnB or worth it for €30/night!

So sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience.  I too would not wany anyone like that in my home.  Have you informed airbnb?  They really should be involved.

Hi you really need to advise Airbnb what you wrote I would just and paste what you have write already, as that is not normal (that I have seen and experienced)
Sorry to hear that.

On behalf of the rest of Australia, I am really sorry for these appalling manners.

You are correct in saying that even if that sort of response is cultural acceptable in Australia it is not anywhere in the civilised world. You have a right not to be threatened in your own property and yes they should leave.

Please inform airbnb but you are not likely to get any response also leave feedback about the damage and threats.

@Andrew157, it is NOT acceptable! Not here, not there. You must have misunderstood. I am only sorry about the fact that here they are, giving the rest of Australia a bad rep.

I agree with sandra. Yes I'm an Australian and no way would I do or allow that behavour so please it is not an Australian thing.. Good luck

Actually @Louise47, I just noticed that @Andrew157 is in the UK. Quite a lot of Australians are actually from the UK so really, much of a muchness wouldn't you say? It is like insulting yourself, or do we only have uncivilised pommies here?

@Theresa40  I can imagine how difficult it must have been to deal with such behavior.  Hopefully you were able to have Air BNB do the relocating of the guests so you would not be charged with the cancellation and the attending penalties.

One thought I had about your situation, I know I would not have any idea about "hot water emersiion switch" so I would definitely need an orientation about that.  Also, while since I am a host, I read and remember descriptions, most guests do not, so a verbal orientation to the space and what is included in the booking would be helpful.  Your being unable to provide that orientation due to other commitments may have contributed to the stress for both you and the guest.  Of course, shouting and cursing is never the way a guest should act.

@Theresa40, I advise you to report this guest. You can do so by clicking on the small flag icon near his profile.

In addition, get in touch with AirBnB in your country. Type 'how to contact AirBnB' in the 'search for anything' near the top right-hand side of this page. Google will also bring up contact numbers.
