Unhappy Feline co-host

Greetings ~

Some of you may recall a little about my feline co-host, Bundle. He’s a little treasure and, not only does he reward some guests with treats, he actively seeks to be part of the check-in process. He loves meeting people and likes to “check” who people are before they are allowed in.

A previous story about our Bundle is here:

There has been a development in the life of our talkative, hunting Bundle-Bee-Boy that he would like to voice his views on. In fact, that’s an understatement. According to him it’s a complete disaster as he is unable to discharge his usual services as a co-host, providing scrumtious paw washed delights to his people. Bundle is just now wandering about the house, howling his little whiskers off, accusing me of all manner of things.

Why, you ask? What could I possibly have done to our poor innocent mischief maker to make him howl.. every minute... at ear splitting volumes, for the past 4 hours?

According to his pea sized little brain, I am responsible for the weather outside today. It is raining, blowing, gusting and cold. All the days prior (including yesterday) I opened the door to a sunny, wind free, magical weather filled world. However, today Autumn is in full swing.

Bundle would therefore duly like to know what the “eff” I have done with his preferred “outside” conditions. Where are they!?!? Where, where, where!?! WHERE?! Maybe this door? Maybe this other door? Maybe the first door.... let’s check it again! Come on! Which door has the nice outside!? Surely one of these doors has it!? What are you people playing at!

The howls continue.

Having given up on me, Bundle is now downstairs at our Airbnb cottage, accusing my guests of the same criminal undertakings he believes I am guilty of... no doubt he will need to check all their doors too, just in case the nice outside is down there....

It is supposed to be spring here, @Ben551 , but we got a sudden snowstorm overnight and everything is icy white. I am with your Bundle, wanting to howl for a little nice outside.

As to my poor weekend treehouse guests, they arrived in a downpour that turned to snow and they woke this morning to a ridiculous winter wonderland.

The good news is that they fell in love with a pair of the knitted slippers I leave in a box under the bed, and made me an offer for them I couldn't refuse. Thank you, snowstorm!

Show Bundle this and see whether it doesn't quiet him down.

spring?spring?

That’s actually gorgeous @Lawrene0 - I wouldn’t mind at all waking up in a tree house, to a snow covered forest... sounds like the stuff of children’s fairy tales 🙂

i can assure you that Bundle would NOT think that was a glorious turn of events. You think that he is howling now, try ice and snow outside that magic door.

Haha @Susan151 quite right. I adopted him when we lived in Scotland and he was always disgusted when Winter arrived. That is, until his (yes...”his”...) fireplace was lit.

Thanks for the chuckle, Ben. A very evocative post - I can totally hear Bundle's complainy-pants howls. Maybe he needs some head butts and some t-r-e-a-ts!

Poor Bundle! My eight year old cockapoo, Curly Murphy hates the Irish rain, (he moved over from Australia with me seven years ago). I get him out if it isn't pouring, but if it is he just follows me around until I physically open the conservatory door and he sees for himself the downpour. I guess he just can't believe me from inside. When we go to the beach he walks in until his tummy hits the water, then barks constantly,- no lovely warm Pacific waters here, I can't blame him!

My friend has a rescue labrador from Spain, and she is based in Germany, so he gets depressed when it rains. He loves swimming as most labradors do, but wet from above is not his thing. I often wonder if transplanted animals suffer from seasonal depression, it must exist!

Hahaha @Rosemarie9  that’s so funny. I can imagine that wee doggler giving you some filthy looks over that weather. I reckon my three cats got the better end of the deal when I relocated from Scotland to New Zealand and brought them with me.

It’s been 2 years since they’ve seen snow outside! You’d think Bundle would remember it used to be a whole lot worse... but he seems to have conveniently forgotten!

I think he doesn't mind being away from 40 degree heat though! Luckily it only snows here rarely. I'm glad New Zealand seems quite temperate, as it is my next choice as a possible home. I keep looking at bed and breakfast type businesses that are for sale there, the pup and I would like to return to the southern hemisphere soon!

I think Bundle has quite the life there by the sounds of it, the howling is just normal superhost behaviour from time to time, don't I know it after three years! Even the best of us get the "howls" every now and then.

@Ben551It snowed here also: I don't have a beautiful photo like Lawrene does, but imagine something similar in wine country. Instead of coming back to our door to be let in after a backyard potty break, one of my dogs apparently forgot where we live and went to our Airbnb guests' door and cried and howled like he was being slowly tortured to death. He was outside for a good 2 minutes, so I guess we should just be happy he didn't get hypothermia. Pets always keep hosting exciting!

@Alexandra316 all this talk of snow is making me miss Scotland... oh that poor dogget. They say pets senses get scrambled about by the snow, so I expect he got a bit turned around. I hope your guests are nice dog loving folk!

@Ben551Alonso is from sunny Spain, so he's not exactly a snow lover at the best of times. It seems that a lot of us here have globetrotting pets!

The guest actually had their dog with them, so they were totally understanding, and I called him to the right door as soon as he started crying. He's just a big drama queen. I call him my Spanish footballer.

@Alexandra316 hahahaha! Spanish dog in the snow sounds like a sulky toddler 🙂
