What is the Proper Way to Review This?

I just stripped the bed in one of our guest rooms and found a "well used and very dirty" (massive streaks) pair of men's underwear buried under the crumpled up sheets. I feel like I need to take a dip in a vat of Lysol.

How to review these guests? We have had an excellent record of guests who recieve all 5-Stars since we started nine months ago. I believe we have only given out one review that was not 5-Stars.

Aside from this one incidence, the guests behaved well and otherwise behaved themselves. I am not sure I want them back however.

I am interested in all of your thoughts.

Wouldn't bother me & wouldn't give me pause not to welcome them back. I'd just chuck them in the bin with the rest of the rubbish, leave a normal 5* review & carry on.

Underwear comes with the territory. I found some from a guest who said he had a great time visiting. One of the other hosts on this board said she keeps "underwear" tongs.

You have to have a thick skin and a sense of humor to be a host. I wouldn't count it against the guest. I've found underwear, socks, etc. My fault since I tell guests not to strip the beds (allows me to inspect for stains and tears. But in doing so, people forget to check the linens for their personal items.

And honestly, it's kind of not fair to report that you found stained underwear. It feels like a comment on the guest which I found unkind. Just saying you found underwear is enough.

@Douglas115  I certainly would never mention such a thing, it was a simple oversight and I imagine the guest would be mortfied to realize that anyone saw his gross underwear. It comes with the territory of hosting.

After one of my first guests, I found 3 pairs of boxers in the bed when I stripped it. Granted, they didn’t appear to be stained as such, but I didn’t examine them closely and just threw them out.

Interesting. I just found a pair of knickers and not sure whether to mention to the guest and embarass her or just keep quiet.

It’s just a human mistake. Just throw them in the bin, don’t mention it, it would only embarrass him. And should not be reflected in his star rating.
