Yet Another Change to your Listing View

Don't know if this is a test or not or applicable to all listings, but ABB has changed the way your listing is viewed. All that stuff you write about in "about this space"? They've all but hidden it on the desktop and in the app.

For the desktop version you have to click on "About this Space" for it to show anything. There's no "preview" anymore. The button to click is located just below the "highlights" ABB decides to post.

On the app, it's even harder to find. They have buried it below your reviews!

Not a huge deal, but I depend on that space as a nice preview and it also points out my pet fee in bold. Now, a guest will have to search for the info. Sometimes that spot is ALL the guest will read so this is a bit troubling and will make my job harder. *sigh*

@Susan151

Well I have to say, that little alteration has not made its way to this part of the world Susan!

I am a great one for screenshots Susan because I do understand that pages do refresh and move on!

I am always curious as to what happens in various parts of the the platform that affect our business and when I do something out of the ordinary I take screenshots of each step, so I have something to consult.

I recently booked to stay in a wonderful Airbnb in Wagga in NSW with host Rachel. We have stayed there before and each time we go east we stay again.

Susan I have screenshots of every step of the booking proccess, and although there is absolutely nothing in the message stream, as it happens you are right in that I did receive an email directly after booking and this is that email ......

but, apart from the hosts name and the house rules which are already given in the listing description any reference to 'Guest Resources' has entirely disappeared and it is now up to the host and guest to exchange that information privately.

Like other hosts here, I don't mind doing that but, why in the hell can't they tell us they are doing these things. Why do we have to appear ignorant in front of our guests and not know what we are doing simply because the company have not bothered or given a thought about telling us!

And now to this situation....Susan, you are seeing stuff that some of the rest of us are not! It is just like the IB cancellation rules we struck a couple of years ago.....US hosts had one set of cancellation rules and the rest of the world had a diferent set!

We thought back then, it would get easier, but it isn't, each week it just gets harder for no nett gain.

Cheers......Rob

You asked for it.....

To see the Listing Description, you now have to click on More About This SpaceTo see the Listing Description, you now have to click on More About This SpaceAnd then you get a HUGE text block, with no paragraph returns. This stuff is actually important. In fact, this stuff is why I think I have been successful as an AirBNB host.And then you get a HUGE text block, with no paragraph returns. This is UGLY. I don't do UGLY, as a general rule.

@Suzanne302 @Robin4 @Beth80 @Emilia42 ,

@Susan151, good thinking. I have a message that I send to guests who instant book or request to book anyway, so I might tweak it a little now - love your line 'AirBNB has recently changed how you see the Listing Details. I expect that you didn't read them since it is far too difficult'. However, they might not read your house rules either so I'm thinking direct messaging might be the best option.

Also, I didn't know that guests receive the listing description via the messaging system after booking???

@Kath9 .

They don't.... but I can send them as part of my booking process. I am adding this to my tool kit.

I have had great success in having people who actually read my listing and house rules. I expect it has something to do with being amongst the more expensive offering for an in-home space.

I am just trying to respond to the new reality..... and really hoping that AirBNB sees that this is not a good thing and reverses, quickly

@Kath9@Suzanne302@Susan151,

This is what I'm seeing. Is this the 'new' format or the old?

@Emilia42 That is the old.

@Susan151, ugh, I suppose I'll wait for new to just randomly appear.

@Emilia42

Yes, that's the old view. The new view you see no preview, just the button that says, "Read more about the space" like the screenshot @Susan151 posted.

I looked on a different computer and also saw the "old view." It IS as if they're testing it out randomly or something!
