Hi,

We just opened our BnB and our guest cancelled an hour before check-in...I have it set to the moderate policy so it is my understanding that they don't get a refund?  since it was less than 5 days notice?  Do these days open up on the calendar?

The moderate cancellation policy says:

 

"If the guest cancels less than 5 days in advance, the first night is non-refundable but 50% of the nightly rate for remaining nights will be refunded"

 

After cancellation Airbnb allways sents a message about the refund (if any).

Dates will be made available again for new booking.

@Jennifer1896  Just add one more note. You can check if the calendar is open through Airbnb app on Calendar of your listing.

@Jennifer1896  Don't be surprised if you get a call from Airbnb appealing to your sense of fairness and concern for the guest pressuring you into refunding in full. They've been doing this more and more lately and it's wrong. If they contact you, tell them that you are sticking to your cancellation policy as it reads.
