dollar pound conversion

Please Help.

My unit is rented in USD.

The issue is that someone has has just rented it today and it was rented in USD.

Now, due to a small error, it was cancelled.  As the renter is now requesting for refund, I found out that Airbnb is requesting for refund in GBP. Why should I pay in GBP when my unit is rented in USD?

And I don't why I have to pay in GBP when I deal in USD. Please help!

I think you are worrying uncessarily. First of all your cancellation policy will come into effect. What was it for that booking?

AirBnB may over-ride this in extentuating circumstances but will only refund the amount paid by the guest.

(If the guest was from another country then the price they see may have been in another currency such as dollars, but you won't be liable for any additonal exchange fees, etc.)

I am very new to Airbnb and my first guest is having difficulties trying to make payment. They want to pay in local currency of my country but there's no provision for this. I advised them to pay the equivalent in any of the indicated currency, but I don't know what the problem is. Now they want to pay directly into my account, how do I pay Airbnb their fee if the money goes straight into my account?

Paying into your account , I'm pretty sure violates AirBnB policy. That's the whole premise behind this service is to run everything through them.  Do not accept their money outside of AirBnB or you have no protection.

airbnb should be taking their money in their currency and putting the equivalent into your account.

The reservation shows up on your end in your currency and on their end in their currency.

at least that's what happened when I booked a place to stay when I went to Canada.
