payment

I have a request that I have already approved. She says she has trouble paying online and wants to pay cash on arrival. Who do I get them in touch with OR how do I retract approval. I will not accept them if they don't book through Airbnb.

I'd kindly remind them that cash payments are not accepted on Airbnb and that you only accept bookings through Airbnb, so if they want to reserve, they'll need to use one of the many payment methods that Airbnb accepts. This is for their safety and security, so I can't see why they wouldn't want to do it this way.

Also can share some Airbnb articles with them on the subject:

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/199/what-should-i-do-if-someone-asks-me-to-pay-outside-of-the-ai...

If you've pre-approved them, they have 24 hours to complete the reservation. The booking isn't finalized until payment is finalized, so if they stop responding or you don't feel comfortable with it, just a little bit of time and it's done.

You can always Decline their reservation request, too, if you don't feel comfortable with the situation or they don't agree with your rules.

@Evelyn10, I agree with @Greg14. Don't make any transactions outside of the AirBnB platform. If you made a simple "pre-approval" of the guest's request (as opposed to a Booking acceptance), then you can retract that approval. If you accepted a Booking, and the guest won't cancel, you should contact AirBnB to have THEM cancel the booking. Don't cancel it yourself.

Anyone who claims that they "have trouble paying online" is likely to turn out to have trouble paying at all. That's a big flashing warning sign. Besides just having trouble getting paid in full, you could end up being the victim of a scam. And, because you would have gone outside AirBnB, they can't/won't help you at all and would probably delist you.
