At the end of reviewing someone it asks "Would you host ____ again?"
If you hit NO, does this do anything for you?
Does it mean when that guest goes to book with you again, it shows you are not available? Or is the question pointless?
I'm sure there is a thread about this already, just couldn't find anything.
Thanks for reading!
@Kaylee18 My guess is that it affects the guest who want to book instantly from Airbnb. The guests with NO will not be able to instantly book.
I have seen guests with perfect 5 star ratings or near perfect 5 star ratings who could not instantly book my listing. I have IB turned on. Normally guests with 5 stars reviews could book instantly without me seeing booking request. But I saw booking request from at least a couple of guests with 5 star ratings came. I had to click Accept to have the booking confirmed.
@Kaylee18 @Absolutely no way at all to verify any of this but CS told me that this question means nothing.
*if you don’t want a guest back, they need to be blocked.
*consistent 1* reviews are needed to prevent IB
again. Who knows.
@Kaylee18 I think it's just one of those random stats Airbnb wants to keep with no real meaning for hosts.
Airbnb doesn't want hosts to "ban" guests so I doubt they'll ever make it easy to do. I really wish they would, however, because I've had guests who weren't bad, but I just don't want back because they were annoying. I don't want to hurt their feelings, so it would be nice if there was an option to prevent them from even seeing your listing again.
I think it is some kind of evaluation of the guest. Your single evaluation won't do anything, but if a certain amount of hosts have the same opinion, then they might block the guest. Also, I think if the guest has previous complaints against him, maybe it will make easier for airbnb to site with hosts on future demands against that person....
I thought if you hit the no button to hosting them again, it prevents that guest from being able to instant book with you in the future.
No it doesn't - you have to give them a maximum three star review if you want them not to be able to use IB.
Block them if you don't want them to book with you again. @Andrea-and-Francis0

Hi @Kaylee18
It absolutely does not by itself (talking from experience)- personally I think it’s used more for building a character profile on both guests and hosts as to do targeted marketing or research, at least this is what would make sense to me.
Unless the thumbs down is added with a 3* overall or less - then no, guest will still be able to instantly book with you.
To prevent IB overall the guest needs to given 1* overall and a thumbs down (or so I have heard through the grapevine).
🙂
We used to be able to thumbs up or down a guest (recommended or not recommended). Then that disappeared and "Would you welcome XX back" took its place. Whether this is just a wording change so it doesn't sound so harsh (heaven forbid you said a guest wasn't recommended) and still counts as a recommendation or not seems to be one of those things in a long list that Airbnb keeps secret.
Because of course you wouldn't want your users, who are the source of your profits, to be informed of how you use the information they are required to provide 😞
Thanks everyone for your input! I was hoping it meant they could not instant book again, but oh well!
