updating availability

This is a plea to hosts from a host wanting to book as a guest!

I have put in dates of travel and the area i am searching to stay. I have a total of 5 responses so far that were shown as available but are not! It is so frustrating for guests, there will always be an exception but PLEASE can hosts block out when their rooms are unavailable to stop wasting guests time and giving AIRBNB a bad name.

BTW. Reasons so far are:-

None given

Friends staying

Unable to get the room ready (2 weeks hence) no days booked prior to that

Currently out of the country

All of these reasons are surely known before hand and calendar can be updated accordingly.

Thank you from a frustrated host. Gripe over 🙂 🙂

@Linda149 The problem is that the quality of hosts you referred to in your post do not really frequent this forum...

@Linda149 - These are the hosts that give good hosts a bad reputation!  They are not keeping up to date and poorly communicating. Make sure you flag the conversations - especially where they've given you a bad excuse for a reason to say no and flag the host profile for review.

Is there a reason you are not using Instant Book instead of going the traditional request and approval workflow?

Its me again. Latest response as to why the dates are not actually available (despite me entering the dates required) are that the guy is in the proces of selling his place!!!! How could you possibly not know this arghhh. Thanks Lino in East Dulwich NOT

@Linda149 search for superhosts with instant booking. They are more likely to have their calendars updated .

@Branka-and-Silvia0 I am not a superhost, and not within days, or even months, of reaching it. 🙂

@Linda149 IB is for sure the way to go. Then also briefly scan the hosts'profiles. What place/location are you trying to book that is sooo dificult to find?

Thanks all for responding. I was searching East Dulwich in London. There are very few IB, if any for the dates i wanted, probably because other guests have gone that route after getting fed up with rooms being unavailable.

Glad to say i am now sorted with a new listing in ED with no reviews yet! Fingers crossed!!

I did check reviews and profile of the would be hosts but didnt seem to make it any easier. They all sounded like responsible and recognised hosts.
