Excited New Host Here! How Did You Get Your First Booking?

Hey everyone!

I'm thrilled to join the Airbnb host community and eager to welcome my very first guests! As a new host, I’m looking for some expert advice on how to attract that elusive first booking.

For those of you who’ve been in my shoes, what worked best for you? Any tried-and-true strategies or clever tips that helped you stand out? I’d love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hi Dear New Host @Ms--Iffat0 ,

Airbnb is a wonderful company and can be both emotionally and financially rewarding.

Our advice is to focus on delivering good service, be kind and enjoy the experience of hosting others.

Also - Check other local Airbnbs & holiday accommodation for quality & price comparisons.

All the best to you in your future.

Remember / Keep everything clean and tidy and if you’re showing them around be relaxed & be yourself 🙏

@Ms--Iffat0

Congratulations!  Cute Room.

Suggestions:

Photos -You want to give a potential Guest a visual tour of what is being offered  Include all spaces like kitchenette.  Use Airbnb Room Folders for pictures really helps the Guest view.

Review Amenities many Airbnb Search Filters focus on Amenities so include everything offered.

Turn off, experienced Guests only.

Turn on Airbnb New Listing Discount.

Hi, @Ms--Iffat0 !  I am a relatively new host also.  I am now accepting my fourth guest today.  I actually wanted to only have experienced guests at my property as it remains my primary residence, but I like having it available to others while I travel instead of it sitting vacant while I am away.  The theory is experienced guests will likely have a more proven track record of following house rules and being respectful of your property.  I fortunately opened up my initial booking windows during a busy season for out-of-town visitors, but also made sure my base prices were competitive along with turning on the new listing discount as well.  I feel it is also important to make your place comfortable and appealing looking as possible (think with a hotel mindset in this regard).  Quality pics of all spaces of your home are key to include.  I did not hire a professional photographer, but it may be worth it if you do not have any skill set in this area.   I spent a bit of time on this prep, but had a good base to already start with as it was.  This combination of factors has worked well for me.  Wishing you the best success to you in your bookings!

Hi @Ms--Iffat0   😊‌,
Welcome to the community center and thank you for asking this question here!

What inspired you to become a host? What do you think of our hosts' suggestions? 😍

To get better help from our host community, I recommend requesting a listing critique. This will help you understand why you're not receiving bookings.

If you're interested, just check out this article ‌👉‌ How to ask for listing critique on the Community Center.
