I have a guest who wants to cancel 3 days ahead of check in due to a possible hurricane in a week's time. I have a firm cancellation policy so currently there is no refund. I believe they expect to get a full refund or reschedule dates due to it being a natural disaster. However that would mean lost revenue for this week. I would be willing to do 50/50 which is fair, if I have to. Doesnt Airbnb have insurance for extenuating situations like this?
@Julie5055 Airbnb's extenuating circumstances policy would allow the guest to cancel and swing ALL the loss onto the host BUT it does not apply to weather in areas where it can be reasonably foreseen. In fact Hurricanes in hurricane season are used as an example of what is not covered. The guest needs to claim on their travel insurance!
@Julie5055 offer 50/50 sounds reasonable. try that 1st. Tell guest your firm cancellation policy..
This definitely a case that you need to call host support for.
I wish you and the guest the best outcomes.
