Hurricane Ian cancellations in Florida

Hurricane Ian cancellations in Florida

We Superhost a rental in SWFL-- guests are requesting to cancel because the area is so ravaged and wont be the same beautiful coastal city as when they booked their vacation. If I cancel the booking, I pay 10% fee and cannot re-book those dates- if they cancel the booking, they pay 50%- but I can re-book those dates. Airbnb has not been helpful in the past regarding extenuating circumstances/ hurricanes-- so Im hoping someone else in a similar situation has had better luck???? Any suggestions from host to host?

@Christine2527 request guests cancel and put the reason in and tell them when this step is complete you will do your best to issue a full refund. airbnb will then prompt you and ask if you would like to issue a full refund , extraneous to your policy and all you need to do is say yes. It is simple but obviously very few hosts systematically give refunds. i did so all the way thru covid . in such circumstances it behooves hosts to do so . all the best . do not give refunds that you have not recieved because then you risk giving away your own money as well as refunding guests. where it says how much , ignore it and just push full refund .
