Security deposit

Hi,

I've just booked a few nights away, the host is requesting we pay a £250 damages deposit through bank transfer.

I've spoken to airbnb customer services and they are happy for me to pay this. I'm not keen on sending money out of the platform as it won't be insured and feels a bit fraudulent. 

What would you do?

@Daniel10982 Did the listing specify a deposit? If not you have a right to cancel and get a full refund (But you would need to explain the law to Airbnb).
