Unresolved Cancellation and Refund Issue with Airbnb for 2700 euros - Seeking Community Advice

Hello Airbnb Community,

I am facing an unresolved issue with Airbnb and would like to share my experience and seek advice from fellow members.

I made a booking but never stayed at the property. On the first day, Airbnb canceled the booking and locked me out of my account, claiming that the booking was canceled and refunded. However, the refund was never issued despite their claims.

I have made multiple requests for cancellation and refund to Airbnb without any resolution. I also contacted Médiation Tourisme et Voyage (MTV) for assistance, but Airbnb is not adhering to their charter. MTV advised me to file a complaint with the CEC (Centre européen des consommateurs) for a cross-border dispute.

Airbnb failed to provide the legally required mediator details upon my request. The host did not receive the 2700 euros I paid to Airbnb and asked me to leave the property. As a result, neither the host nor I received the money paid to Airbnb, which means Airbnb has kept the funds.

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to handle this situation and resolve the issue with Airbnb.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello @Jerome407,

I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time right now.

While other members come with their advice, I just wanted to let you know that even though we are not part of the AirBnb Customer Service team, I've gone ahead and forwarded your issue to the team that can help.

Hopefully this help.

@Jerome407 Take Airbnb to the French small claims court. In the UK the process is all on-line and simple so I suspect it will be similar in France.

I am going through a slightly different issue with Airbnb.  I made a booking for Nashville when our group got a little bigger, I cancelled a booking but opted to receive a booking credit, which their policy states is immediate.  I had found another property and was going to book immediately after I cancelled the one reservation.  My credit never showed up in my account.  I have been on the phone and messaging everyday with their customer service.  They state it is a known system glitch and their enginerring team is working on it.  In the meantime, I have no credit and had to rebook so we had a place to stay.  This is unacceptable, but I don't know who else to contact to help.  I am in the US.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
