Today I have made a reservation for 2 guests in an Airbnb in Kuta, Bali. Or so I thought... When I checked the confirmation in my email I saw that the reservation was for 1 guest instead of 2 while I was pretty sure that I have booked for 2 people. The price for 1 or 2 people stays the same before you are about to make the reservation, so you pay 601 Euro's for 1 guest for 30 nights but it's the same for 2 guests. But once you have made the reservation and want to make changes, you have to pay 320 Euro's extra to add another guest. I have already messaged my host about this but she still has to respond. Is there any way to fix this without having to pay another 320 Euro's?

You are right about that there is no extra fee for 1 extra person. Your host can easily change it from her side.
It might be night in Bali so maybe she didn't got you message yet?
If there also is a glitch when she alters the booking she can contact airbnb and they can fix it.
I would just wait for the host to reply 🙂

I fear you must have booked for 1 guest and also did not see the extra guest fee.
But if you go to the same listing, you can simply check by yourself if there is an extra guest fee.
Please note: booking 30 nights is a "long term reservation" with "long term cancellation" policy.

Hi Emiel, bedankt voor je reactie! Ik heb de reservering inderdaad denk ik perongeluk gemaakt voor 1 persoon. Toen ik het net opnieuw probeerde om te testen, zag ik dat de prijs hetzelfde blijft voor 2 personen dus lijkt het me niet een heel groot probleem.. Wanneer ik de reservering wil aanpassen moet ik 320 euro meer betalen terwijl ik evenveel heb betaald voor 2 personen gasten. Ik kan de reservering cancellen maar dan krijg ik mijn geld niet terug.. Kan de host dit zelf nog aanpassen?

The listing shows it is same price for 1 or 2 guests (No additional fee for second guest)
Probably something in the "change" form is not working well.
On request the host can make the change also, and correct amount of guest, leaving price the same. I suggest to make a screenprint of the listing, showing price for 2 persons is same as for 1 person, to avoid discussions.

I think the error occured for another reason:
Changing a long term reservation often goes wrong. It seems the new price calculated did NOT include the monthly discount (35%).
So it probably gives you this new price after changing:
821,- (undiscounted rent) + cleaning fee (6,- ) + Airbnb service costs (appr. 94,-) = 921,-
It must be:
534,- (discounted rent) + cleaning fee (6) + Airbnb service costs (appr. 61,-) = 601,-
The difference is exactly what you saw: 320,- !
