I requested for a booking and made a payment thru Visa credit card. The host failed to accept the request in time and the request has 'expired'. She has asked me to send the request again to approve. But my credit limit is blocked. Airbnb has sent me a mail saying - A refund of ₹75461 has been issued to your PayU account.
How long does it take for the refund to appear and unblock my credit limit so I can request for a booking again?
Can the booking become unavailable in the meantime or is there a way to block it with the host till i get the refund?

Yes the booking can become unavailable. Perhaps e-mail the host asking if they would consider holding the dates open under the circumstances since you attempted to pay and had it not been for the expiry of the reservation request, the payment would have been made and booking secured. Whether the guest is willing to hold those dates for you is a different matter and entirely up to the host although possible since has asked you to resend the request.
Just out of curiosity, you mentioned you paid by Visa credit card and refund was sent to PayU. Is PayU the name of the visa credit card provider? Otherwise, why would a refund be sent to PayU?

And while there is occaisionally a reason that a host doesn't acknowledge their booking requests for over 24 hours, you may want to read through their reviews to confirm that this is not a trend of unresponsiveness that could create problems during your stay.

I will request the host to block those dates while this gets sorted..am not sure why they are saying that the refund will go to PayU..this is my first booking thru Airbnb so will need to figure this out too.. thanks a lot for your feedback.

Yes I got the money back...it took about 7-8 days for it to come to my credit card.

i also had booked for a room in milan five days back. unfortunately the host declined and airbnb mailed me about the refund being released to my account. recently they told me they have started their refund process and the money will be refunded via pay u. but i dont have any pay u account. how long does it take from here? should i be worried??

Hey guys, same thing happedned to me, expired request, money bocked, email recieved. Only I paid via Paypal. This is 7th day and no money recieved so far.
