Calendar randomly opening

Seeking help!

My apartments are seasonally open for the European summer only and I have set up the calendar as closed for the periods that they are not open / available to rent. However, dates randomly open during the period I have set the calendar to closed. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can go about fixing this?

@Slavica3 I've noticed the same thing - the only option is to keep checking and keep marking those dates as blocked. I saw I had random dates opening up in February & kept blocking them, took about 3 times but they've now stayed blocked. You have to be vigulent - I know it seems unreasonable, but hopefully it's a glitch which will soon be fixed. - Karen

It;s a long standing bug in the system and very annoying. Random dates open and close at will. It;s not a problem for us as we do not use Instant Book, and it means we can manually check every request to make sure it is not offering a date that we had previously blocked. It's annoying and should have been sorted out - we have had this experience since starting hosting over a year ago.

Clearly if you use IB it's a major problem as you will need to get AirBnB involved to cancel bookings so that you are not penalised.

OK! We are new to this...I was fairly certain it was not me...I had blocked from the beginning Christmas...so now I have a negative review that I cancelled. A notice appeared that someone had rented it. So I have now have taken off the automatic booking. I am really really annoyed! We just started in May and it has happened twice already!!!

As my booking season is also coming to an end, @Slavica3, I'm thinking of snoozing my listing until the spring, rather than blocking my calendar.  I realize that means my listing won't be searchable during that time, but since I was almost fully booked this season, I don't think that's a concern.

wondering what other hosts do who have seasonal rentals?

@Jude7 I'm seasonal too and think snoozing our listing is a great idea! It would certainly make things easier and avoid us having to check in and make sure all the dates are staying blocked all winter.

Same thing happened to us so multiple times. Airbnb, please fix this bug!
