Do I stay or do I go?

I'm hosting for the first time this weekend. I'd made plans before booking, so I'll be in and out of the house and possibly staying overnight at another place in-town over the weekend. I'll be available by phone and able to check-in at my house regularly. Is it okay to be mostly absent while hosting guests? I plan to secure all of my personal items and have the house prepped for them.

@Angela328  I dont see why not.  Just communicate to your guest you will be away and make sure they have a number to reach you in case anything pops up.

I would definately go! If you are going to be in town there is nothing you cannot handle. The vast majority of guests will not call or have problems, but if the guest does contact you, you will be able to handle it.

Hi @Angela328 , yes, definitwly  pursue your plans! Think long term, and that you will be hosting, but  not babysitting 🙂 However, I would be there when they check in, it will give you (and them) a good feel for the situation.

On the long run, you might want to consider placing check in and check out times into place, it will make everything smoother and more predictable. I have 3-8pm as check in times and I ask guests the day before arrival for their ETA, always worked out great: we always meets guests upon arrival, then leave  them alone.
