Hello Everyone,
We have a large 110 acre property that we have been renting for 7 years now. The property is completely fenced and one can only access the farm by the front gate in which they need a code for. My guests that just checked in recieved all the information they needed to access the property and when they arrived they put the code in to open the gate but were afraid it would hit their rental car so got out of the car and held it to stop it from moving thus causing the motor to cease and now wont work anymore. We are waiting to see what the repairs will be but not sure what to do in the meantime. We have never had this problem in 7 years. We have excellent reviews and always try to do the right thing by our guests and offer everyone a wonderful experience. I am afraid this will be a rather expensive fix. Such a shame, they were afraid to damage their rental car but have no care for our property. The gate opens so slowly that there was no reason for them to hold it, they would of have enough time to simply back the car up. and if it did hit the car it would not even have made a dent or scratch.
Good luck getting money out of AirBnB.

You have a security depoist, hopefully that will cover it, just need to make the claim.
I am sorry this has happened to you. People do the strangest things. Please make sure you communicate with the guest through the Air BNB platform even if you have a verbal conversation. As previously noted, hopefully your security deposit will cover the repair.
