I received a request from a woman and she answered all my questions EXCEPT how many guests are included in the reservation. I've asked her to confirm and she didn't answer. This is a room and bath in our home. She said shes coming to town for a competition. The only one is for kids. I'm concerned she's going to show up with a bunch of kids! We say we aren't child friendly. I'd consider one but no more. What do I do if she doesn't answer? I'm on the brink of supehost and don't wnwa this to ruin it.
"8.3.3 You may not bring any additional individuals to an Experience, Event or other Host Service unless such an individual was added by you as an additional guest during the booking process on the Airbnb Platform."

Thank you! How do I avoid it becoming an issue if she doesn't address my 2 requests for confirmation and even worse if I don't cancel and she shows up with people? Especially kids? I know the only como is for kids and I was able to find her on FB and she her daughter is a competitive cheerleader. Looks like she's a single mom with 3 kids.
@Ricardo85 I think this is wrong.
Children under two are 'free' but they still count toward the max number of guests, otherwise airbnb would be putting people in a position of making them accept numbers that are larger than what local laws allow.
ETA..it doesn't matter in this case, because the listing is not suitable for children under 12, so no guest can bring any children under 12 whether they are counted as guests or not.
@Donna473 I would send a message that reminds her of the check in details, and whatever else you can think of, where you mention that the maximum number of guests your listing accommodates is 2 persons total. Ask her one more time to confirm the number of guests.
If she doesn't reply, I would contact airbnb and explain the situation, that you have a max of 2 guests and this guest has not confirmed either the number of guests in her group or that she understands the max is 2. Airbnb does say that children under 2 are 'free' but they can still be counted as a registered guest toward the max number.
I didn't notice if you do or don't accept children, but if you don't you will want to remind airbnb of this when and if you contact them.
Sure it is, why wouldn't it be? You can make the listing to not accept children under 2 or not accept children under 12.
@Ricardo85 That's incorrect. It's definitely an option available in the settings. What you can't do is charge for children under 2 if you accept infants, but they still need to be accounted for on the booking.
@Ricardo85 It's a nicer way of saying "forbidden". Just like "Better suited to a hotel" is nicer than saying "This clown has zero idea of how to behave in someone else's home."

Most hosts who have that rule have it because their place is not, in fact, safe or suitable for children. It's not because they hate kids.And a parent can't judge whether a place will be safe for their child unless they've already been there. You can't know what hazards a place might have just from whatever photos the host has on their listing. The host is a better judge of their property's safety hazards and there are also insurance issues to consider, should a child get hurt.
