How does it affect our host status if we need to cancel an instant book. We originally received the notification that an instant book was done and the individual was "Bill" however when the partner replied she added her name and a different person entirely (we were not born yesterday of course...). The contact number in Bill's profile matches the number in the email which we found out after we questioned the lady however still no mention of "Bill". Just wondering if our suspicions are warranted or not. Our concern is that all of the reviews are about Bill only. To add to this they have booked for tomorrow. Thanks Bob and Anna.
I am new to the instant book but I understood that the person booking had to forward their photo ID eg. passport. Surely that would be in 'Bill's' name? My antennae are twitching... The reason I have not signed up for instant book is that I require the names of all people staying at my place, and Airbnb precises that only the ID of the person in whose name the booking is made has to give photo ID. In your case surely Bill should be the person staying and you should be able to check his photo ID on arrival. You also should be able to check comments from places he has stayed before, I am interested to see how this all turns out. As well, you should not have to cancel the booking but just welcome Bill. If these people have booked under another name it is not your fault and you should not be out of pocket, Good luck!
you know that third pary bookings are not allowed on Aibnb and if something happens you are not covered.
Look at mine house rules, we register all our guests, including children. I advise you and all other hosts do the same.
Contact your guest and ask if Bill is a part of the group. If not, contact ABB to cancel this reservation.
Last minute bookings are often suspicious, accounts are sometimes hacked... be carefull
Yes, I have had this situation a couple of times. The person who stayed was not the person in the profile. I don't use Instant Book, but I have never declined anyone. I am afraid if I decline someone, even if it's due to them not being the person in the profile, that I will have my host ranking reduced, and lose my current Super Host status. So my question: if I decline, will Airbnb hold that against me? How do I let them know the reason?
