I have small children that would not understand. Can I deny an LGBT?

Isn't it exhausting, being so judgmental of so many different groups?  Why don't you just decline with the "I feel uncomfortable with this guest" option and leave it at that?

Oh my, did I just get a private message about this thread to my mailbox?! Didn't even know this was possible! Does anyone else think it should be anonymous because my tone was threatening?!

Could anyone explain how that happened?!

@Babs0

I suppose your last sentences could be considered a personal attac.

Maybe it is my forward Dutch approach, @Marit-Anne0?! Was it the "maybe you should reconsider hosting through Airbnb"??!

Either way, didn't really appreciate an anonymous email in Spanish 😞

As a consequence of how this issue is progressing, I have decided to Ask the moderator to delete all my posts. Let me clarify that I understand that I have not interpreted what I wanted to express. By the way, I will update my profile picture with my wife, who is certainly from Rio de Janeiro and “mulata”.

I can't defend nor understand that either @Babs0 but maybe that's my Danish mentality similar to yours 🙂

Que pasa esta la pregunta en este situation - aye my Espagnol is really awful but in all seroiusness, what did the email say?

Was it sent via your listing and the ABB platform?

I got a notification in my mailbox with a long message, but can't find the actual message on here, @Christian65. Not sure what's up with that, I can't figure out how that was done.

Anyway... This post is resolved, right!?? GT&C's of Airbnb don't allow for this discrimination (or selection, whatever you want to call it ;-)), so @Mark258 can't turn down guests just based on the LGBT aspect. I wouldn't recommend Instant Book in his case! Also an alternative in the form of listing a property on Stayz was offered by Lisa, if you don't agree with Airbnb's philosophy and values there are still plenty of other options!

Happy hosting, everyone!

@Babs0

Clicking at the profile picture, there is an option to send a private message.  If possible - I would flag the message. Harassing members with rants in a foreign language is not really the done thing.

Thanks, @Marit-Anne0! You showed me how it could be done, awesome! You are always such a great support on here

@Babs0

Did not pick up on any threatning tone? Maybe it's just my Norwegian way of appreciating truth be told...?

@Mark258

It is not your children who don't understand. It is you that don't want them to understand. Children are not so interested in other peoples sexlife. But they ARE very happy to see people that have someone to love. Everytime I see children asked about to women/men kissing/holding hands at least on child replies: it's just love. What's wrong with loving someone? 💓

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your participation in this thread, there has been many thoughtful comments shared here, I do feel though it is starting to get rather personal and off-track so with this in mind, I am going to close this thread now.

Also, you may have seen elsewhere in the Community Center, but I wanted highlight this again below.

"Airbnb’s mission is to help create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. We believe that by sharing our homes, meeting people from across the world, and experiencing different cultures, we can foster the understanding that leads to that community of belonging.  Earlier this year we published our Standards and Expectations, which are an expression of our community’s shared values, and were created based on what hosts and guests have told us they view as acceptable conduct and behavior when using Airbnb. A foundational value in these Standards that relates to your particular question is the principle of Fairness; specifically the section on Discriminatory Behavior or Speech. This is further explained in our nondiscrimination policy which all community members agree to as part of their use of Airbnb. If we become aware that a member of our community has explicitly violated this standard, adverse action may be taken on their account, including potential removal from the Airbnb community.

We remain committed to making Airbnb one of the most open, trusted, diverse, transparent and accepting communities in the world. As part of this, we encourage you to explore ways to interact with people from all backgrounds and to find the common threads that bring us together. For more information, read our recent blog post. "

Please keep the above in mind when posting.

Thanks,

Lizzie
