Tel Aviv host increased price x 3 for Eurovision

Booked a place 6 months ago on Airbnb for Eurovision in Tel Aviv. Yesterday the host cancelled and doubled his price. So I booked a 2nd place at £400 more, and today the 2nd host altered and trebled his price. Wtf. Not using AirBnB again. Disappointed in AirBnB hosts in Tel Aviv.

@Gareth69 hosts are not allowed to do that. You do not have to accept any proposed change in price after you have booked. A host who cancels will not be allowed to rebook the cancelled dates (at least not on Airbnb), will be fined, and will be disqualified from super-host status. You can also report the hosts to Airbnb by flagging their profile. (Click "report" under their profile picture.)

Gareth,

Sorry for your troubles.

If you wish I can contact a very nice lady I met in Tel-Aviv back in 2014. I didn't actually lodge with her then, as I stayed with another Host. But I did visit her home in Givatayim.

I see her listing is still active, though she hasn't got any reviews since that time. So best I can do is contact her to see if she's still hosting.

The advertized price is £ 55 a night.

If you would like me to do this, please give me precise dates you're looking for.

Alon

Thanks for the offer Alon, but i have decided to book a hotel at 2x the price because I can't trust AirBnB during a busy event like Eurovision. I have to go the safe route.

The one I stayed with you could certainly trust, he's a Superhost for 6-7 years, over 500 Reviews and no record of Cancellations. However, prior to my initial response,  I  checked his calendar and it was fully booked in May, month of the EV.

You would probably find some as trustworthy, but perhaps they are already booked up for May. Airbnb is very popular in Israel.

Anyway, you seem to be set now, so hope you enjoy your visit.
