Transaction history

Hi Hosts,

In the Transaction History it has an option to "Export to CSV", when I do this though it opens in my Excel looking untidy and not having all data under the titles it has.  Very hard to explain without showing all my transactions.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Letitia

Hello @Letitia0. There is a glitch with those exports to CSV, you must report it to Airbnb directly, maybe if more hosts have complained, Airbnb will improve this option.

Oh ok thanks Marzena, I'll do that.

@Letitia0  CSV stands for 'Comma Separated Values' and is an Excel file that does away with a lot of unrequired information.

If you transactions are not showing in their correct cells it is probably that your Excel has been corrupted as this is not a general complaint we come across Letitia.

You are never going to have all the information displayed without hovering over the 'hash' fields.

This is the file as you should see it....

You can reveal more information by expanding some of the cells to the right, including payment details and accounts to which payouts have been sent.

If you are not seeing your information displayed in this way let me know and I will try to advise you further.

Thanks for your reply Rob.  I've used Excel alot so I'm aware of the expanding of cells to view the info but it appears to have put it all into one cell.  I'm not sure how to screenshot my excel page but here's my copy and paste:

I am having the exact same issue, my solution was to upload this using Google Sheets. Worked perfectly there.

Hi,

were trying to download the csv from airbnb and when we click on the download csv file it shows us that it is downloading but not sure where. First question, does this only work on a laptop or computer and can you actually do this on a smart phone or an iPad etc.

i see google sheets is best for opening the .csv file but frankly I’m trying from a non pc with excel and google sheets (my apple ipad) and not getting anywhere!

thank you

I don't know if anybody else is aware, but host service fees are tax deductible.  I didn't realize this until this year after hosting for 5 years.  Problem is, apparently you cannot go back to previous years to recover the fees you paid, or the totals in the past.  I would like to see if I can adjust my previous tax returns with those deductions.  The design of the website has the most unfriendly user format I have ever seen!  Everytime I need to access anything except the reservation process, it's a major wild goose chase.  I don't know who sets up the accounting or the website design, but it is the worst.  I've whined about this forever... When is someone going to do something about it!?!?!?!?!?  GRRRR

@Patty45, wouldn't host fees not even have been declared as part of your income?

AirBnB doesn't even send you the host fees; they deduct them before transmitting your share of the funds. So if you use the actual amount received as your income, the host fees were never part of it (and therefore do not need to be deducted.)

However, yes, if you were reporting the gross amount as your income, you certainly should deduct your host fees. Especially since you never received the money they represented in the first place.

I"m totally with Matthew in San Fan. Just delcare the income you receive. You are not delcaring the booking fees your guests get charged why declare the money that Airbnb are making off you and you never receive.

@Roisin1   In the US you would be falsifying tax information reported. You must report the gross earning for the IRS. State, City and County hotel taxes you must also use the gross amount with no deductions allowed. You can deduct the service fee's from the total on the IRS annual return. Texas has no State Income tax, so no deduct here, but the other 44 States that do have State Income tax returns you can also deduct them on that.

Can anyone give me more clear directions on downloading the .csv? We’re trying to download the csv file for our taxes our there in Oz and I’m using my apple Ipad and apple smart phone to try and download the csv file. Do you need to do this on a laptop or computer in order for this download/upload to work?

thank you in advance
