host not accepting amendment

I made a booking for four nights with a host, accepted ok. Contacting them (a week before arrival) to say that we would be arriving a day later and only require three nights accom. They emailed back to say no problem but they have not accepted the amendment through bandb website. Therefore we are still paying for 4 nights. They have not been very clear in their replies as to if this is due to being unable to do this or something else? I have stated that I would like to resolve it but not had a clear reply, only 'that's strange'. I'm sure they are willing to resolve this but would like to know where I stand i case of problems. 

The original booking was for today so we are arriving tomorrow morning. Therefore the booking currently states that we have already checked in.

You should have their number, why don't you call them and ask?

 

It's normally an easy matter - a click of a button for hosts to accept a change to a booking, so not sure what the issue is.

 

However if they haven't accepted the change (and they don't have to) you will still be charged for four nights.

 

If you have something in writing from them saying they will accept the change, then why not call BNB and see if they can help resolve

It sounds like they don't intend refunding the night you won't be staying; bear in mind that a week's notice may be too little notice for them to rebook the room, so they're losing income if they pay you back. It might be that.

Different hosts have different policies. If theirs is a 'strict' cancellation policy, then I'd suspect they feel the amendment doesn't require a refund but they've said it's fine for you to arrive later (which has no monetary implications, just that they'll check you in later!). : )

Oh and be aware, by the time you do arrive, they will probably have been paid the full sum. I get mine mid afternoon, 24 hours after check-in. So if your original check-in was supposed to be today, they will be paid tomorrow.
