hosts requesting discounts

Should hosts contact you asking for a discount because they are "a fellow host?"

Possible reply, @MattandMaryEllen0: "As a fellow host, you will know what a red flag it is when guests request discounts, and that it is wise to decline those who feel it is their due. It would have been nice to meet you. All the best."

I also find it quite annoying that fellow hosts contact the host of the property and ask for discounts. It would be nice I if Airbnb would send out a message to all hosts addressing this issue. I would not nor have I asked other hosts to lower their price.  I understand that most hosts price their property fairly and work hard making the experience a good one.

It is frustrating that fellow hosts ask to me to lower pricing, especially when I have looked up their rental and noticed that they are making more money on their rental per night then I am asking for mine.

How are others responding back to the asking party?

I dont think hosts should lower their price but Airbnb could reduce the amount of commission they take. We put a lot of money their way and it would be nice if they could be a little bit generous. I also rent through cottages.com and get preferential rates on bookings funded by the organisation, not the host.

This is very lame for the host's to ask for a discount only because he is a fellow host. As it is, you charge only $89 per night for the entire house!!! This host knows like no one else that we all work hard to provide a great customer experience for our guests and to also, to make extra money. I personally would not want to host anyone like that. There is no guarantee that such host won't give you a bad review if you don't give him a discount. Awful situation.

I would nicely offer this host to look for another accommodation in the area.
