"Super Host" misunderstood by guests

You are a SuperHost when:

1. You have good reviews

2. You rent your place 10+ in a year

But in the last Airbnb magazine that I got today say:

"The Savviest Way to Airbnb:

1. Filter by Superhost. They receive the highest ratings and have earned this title by being responsable and helpful." (airbnb magazine august/september 2019, page 27)

It doesn't say anywhere about renting the place 10+ times, in my case I have 5 stars but I can't rent my place 10+ times because I live there! But since I am not SuperHost anymore it is been hard to rent it because guest always look for SuperHost (as airbnb magazine is recommending), thinking that they are the most responsible etc, etc.

Airbnb should clarify to the guests the total meaning of Superhost because I am still giving a 5 star service.

Is anyone having the same situation?

@Liliana293  There's more to it than those 2 things- response rate, zero cancellations are also factors.

I really wouldn't worry about it if I were you. While some guests may look for Superhosts, I think the majority are more interested in price, location and reviews. In fact, many hosts who've lost Superhost status report that their bookings were not affected at all.

It's obvious to me that the company is going to find ways to reward those who bring them more bookings- that's their bottom line. Hence the 10 trips per year (or 3 trips totalling 100 days). It's supposed to be a booking platform, not just a way to earn some $ by renting out your place when you go away. So while you're free to do that, it's not unreasonable that the company isn't excited about hosts who might only rent their place a couple times a year for a few weeks.

It's not like Superhosts have some great perks- Airbnb promotes Luxe, Plus, Experiences, and Unique places above Superhosts. we don't even have some dedicated Superhost priority phone line like we used to.

Hi, thanks for your input, I am totally agreed with what you said. In my case I think it has affect my booking since I am not a SuperHost anymore. I am agree that the company is going to reward those who bring them more bookings, it make sense, but it should be in a different way, not saying or advising to look always for SuperHost because they give better service (because is not always true), Non-SuperHost can give 5 star service as well, in my case I have 5 stars, 37 reviews, 0 cancelations, Work Collection, Basic requirements. Also, my price is cheaper comparing to others in my building.

Thanks again for responding.

Lili.
