This is good for a laugh: So I just saw that Airbnb is messing with my description of our general location, adding stuff I never posted, such as airport vicinity - visible to all potential guests:
I mean, I would have suggested PHX (Phenix Sky Harbor airport) if they had only asked me to include such info, but surely, people can think of that on their own. But what about Airbnb's oh so helpful suggestion of Yolo Ranch Airport? Yolo Ranch Airport??? Never heard of it... so I doubt my guests would employ it, at 85 minutes away..... but I checked it out, and here it is:
It has no reviews, but so inviting, smack dab in the middle of nowhere!
So I suggest Airbnb needs to attach info on rental car places......or do they expect me as a good host to pick up my guests right there? ( I think I need a 4 wheel drive..)
Good One! I think this is just distracting more than anything - especially for the guests that are NOT flying. Aren't most Airbnb trips part of a larger tour of an area - or a destination on their own?
The proximity to an airport should be listed under location - or amenities or locality. NOT in the subtitle!
Better get the GPS out for directions to that airport in those scrubs - I'm booking a flight to visit you!
Yolo Ranch Airport - still makes me laugh.......
So I had a look at my listing - and it get's even better - the major regional airport nearby (Western NC Airport) that brings in all the highrollers and gamblers for the Murphy Casino, isn't even mentioned! It is exactly 30 miles from our cabin, yet Airbnb have decided to plug two county-owned airports (well, at least they have a tarmac runway, unlike Yolo!), at 41 miles from Blairsville Airport. And 45 miles from McMinn County Airport.
WTF!
@Rachael26 , it's just another example how Airnb, at their sole discretion, is getting into our listings and changing things without even telling us. And often enough, these changes, such as with this airport vicinity thing, is not helpful at all - just comical and mildly embarrassing.
Beats me why they mess with such inconsequential stuff - while not taking care of the obvious and often repeated problems. Almost seems as if someone with ADD is munching on laced brownies and entertaining themselves over lunch break.....
Thank goodness they list the primary airport on my listing, but their alternative that does not have commerical flights. Other alternative airports are not listed. But, I am in a major city so this doesn't concern me. If I were in an area that had less obvious options, I would be irritated.
It would have been so much better if AirBNB had asked us, the homeowners to list available airports.
LOL @Annette33 yolo airport for birds 😄
did you noticed that location paragraph with a map is now on the bottom of every listing, under the review section? Maybe someone should explain to ABB that location, location, location (and price) are the main factors for any real estate 🙂
How do we get this off of our listing? Mine also lists a small (very small) airport that is just not appropriate to list. Airbnb, please consider making this a check box that we can choose to add to our description if we would like to have it on there. As it stands currently, it is distracting to the listing. I would like to suggest that Airbnb has a section "Airport Distances" and then list them all there. Thank you for your consideration.
Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't like this because it messes up my consistent formatting. I have all the location stuff in a list format so it's easy to read and scan for potential guests.
This info is in paragraph format, which makes it look out of place.
Plus I would prefer to add the airport info myself. What if someone already has this info? Then you just look foolish for having it twice.
@Merlin4 , no you're not the only one - but things will only get rearranged when someone at Airbnb will deem it an improvement, and often enough what we hosts think is a good idea is obviously not a good idea in their eyes.
This change here, i am mostly amused by , I mean just look at my picture above of Yolo Airport! that's just plain funny. the thing is, most guests don't even look at details in the description/listing, so for sure they are not even going to notice this little thing, let alone take issue with the formatting.
In my case, this change makes for a good laugh, that is why I posted it.. 🙂
