Atlanta Superbowl Disaster

I have been a host for (4) years and my property is 1.3 miles away from the Mercedes Benz Stadium. I did not get booked at all for the Superbowl.

Many host I know located on the Westside did not get booked. Interesting enough I know a couple of host who got booked 25-40 minutes away from the city.

What happened?

Is AirBnB steering guest to suburban areas?

Does anyone else have similar Superbowl stories?

If you were booked where are you located?

Just looking for convo from host.

Yikes! Yeah that's frustrating. Airbnb should defintely launch tools to show us more insight into why we do or don't get booked.

Its a combination of events as to why many ideal locations dont get booked when they are perceived to be right in the middle of the action. As Robin stated people who didnt have tickets to the Superbowl stayed far away from the event. That left a glut of rooms in the city unoccupied. Even though we think AirBnB is really popular its hardly the easiest to book and the breakdown in costs makes any person think twice about booking a room. I've compared AirBnB to most inexpensive hotels and found it to be a lot more than hotels for no apparent reason than the host wanting to gouge the guest. Hotels have accountants that are looking to cover costs with a small profit. Hosts are looking for a huge profit while covering minimal costs.

Location is only a small portion of the equation. I'm happy to take a rideshare into the city if it costs me $5 extra dollars vs paying hundreds of dollars a day more for a listing thats closer to the action. In Vegas we've hosted EDC and Mayweather fights. Ive always been booked for them because I realize what the market could bear -it's not a lot and the people paying hundreds a day aren't on airbnb.
