Declining an Inquiry for dates already booked

Does anyone know why I needed to decline a booking when the dates were not available.

One guest enquired 6 days ago for a property and it was available so we sent out the pre-approved but they did not book in the mean time another guest booked some of the dates. The original guest when sends me a message asking if there was any chance the property was still available which it is not but I have to decline it which I assume is not good for our acceptance rate.

Thanks

Andy

They just replied to your email - the AirBnB platform is not that sop**bleep**icated to see that the dates are now booked. You did the right thing by the way - it's first come first served when it comes to booking space.

@Gerry-And-Rashid0 It's hilarious that AirBnB bleeped part of the word "sophisticated". Their redact regexp (sorry; ancient programming term) is clearly a little too broad.

As an experiment I'm going to toss out a few totally inoffensive words here to see what else they'll bleep: Google zzz Bing yyy Yahoo qqq Yelp ooo Expedia 123456789 xxx banal iii fistula eee angina lll buttocks ggg HomeAway foo $100 donkey ass mule

I could go on all night...

I'm astonished there's no clear answer to this question! I've got 5 inquiries sitting in my dashboard for inauguration weekend - which  someone has already instant booked (and not at the highest possible price, by the way! That's my next question.)

Do I decline them or just let them sit there? I've sent messages to a couple of them, but it's unclear what the protocol is. By now they should be able to see that those dates are booked (- or perhaps Airbnb sends them an alert?)

I would just decline them.
