Hi,
I need help please! I am trying to figure out if Air BNB has charged my guests properly. I can not see anywhere if the "extra person" fee was added to the total charge of their stay. My account is set up as the rate given is for 6 guests in 3 bedrooms. Each extra person is $50/per night. Each extra bedroom needed for groups of 6 or less is $50/per room/per night.
For example, on Feb 16 I have 6 guests checking in. They have been charged for 3 bedrooms I beleive. But they need 5 bedrooms and I dont know if air bnb charged them for the other 2 needed....
Another Example:
I have 10 guests checking in on Feb 20, I cant see if they got charged the "extra person fee" of $50/per person/per night...
How can I see if the charges were done properly?! Thank you!
Hello @Julie-Ann2,
You can see a breakdown of the guest charges by going to your reservations and clicking on the "Print confirmation" link for their reservation. It'll be in the "Payout" section.
Airbnb has a setting for specifying an extra person charge so groups should automatically be charged your extra person charge for each person over 6. I can see this when I specify 7 guests when on your listing's page.
There is no setting for specifying charges for the number of rooms needed so Airbnb will not automatically charge your extra room fee for the group of 6 which needs 5 rooms. Putting it in your rules is necessary but is not sufficient to have Airbnb automatically charge it to the guests. You have to do that yourself through the Airbnb system.
Go to your reservations, find the reservation and click on the "Send or request money" link for that reservation. the guest must accept the request for the payment to be passed to you. If the reject it or ignore it then they get only 3 rooms.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your suggestions. It helped. BUT as a host I can not request money for the hickup for this booking this weekend (group of 6 singles neeing extra bedrooms) where air bnb only charged them for 3. Is there a way to change this or do the owners HAVE to be the ones requesting the money?
Thank you!
Hello @Julie-Ann2,
As indicated above, the host has to request the money from the guest.
It's an optional charge just like late checkout fee, airport pickup, breakfast etc. that a host may mention in their listing text. The host must collect it by the "Send or request money" feature.
You charge an extra room fee which is specified in your house rules which guests warrant, as part of the booking process, that they've read and agreed to so you have the right to charge them. You can waive the charge in this case but those guests would then be getting away with not paying a charge that they've indicated that they've seen and agreed to.
For future reservations you could remind them of the extra charge at the time that guests request extra rooms and point out that you'll send a request which they must accept before the extra rooms will be made available.
Steve.
I tried to request money in that feature you mentioned but it didnt allow me as a host?!
Hello @Julie-Ann2,
OK. I misinterpreted it thinking that you didn't wish to rather than that it wasn't possible, when you said "can't". Sorry about that.
I'm at a bit of a loss then. I've done it successfully for an Airport pickup charge.
Looks like you'll have to get on to Airbnb support.

Exactly what @Steve0 said, OR go to your Calendar, click on the booking, a window opens to your > right, click on Message History (bottom) and will show that particular's booking page. In your case, ~$600 means (6), ~$700 means (8) and so on. The logistics of where they actually sleep Airbnb has no clue on, which really depends on the composition/choice of the group.
Hi Fred,
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Now I 'see' your dilemma. Julie it 'should' allow you to, in the bookings page (see above the two ways to reach it) and there 'should be a 'Send or Request Money' button option. If not there is a technical glitch and like @Steve143 said, then must call Airbnb. Cool of you to try to work it out without calling them immediately, which is usually no fun.
