Renters Insurance that covers me

I rent my house. My landlord is okay and signed off on it. I have the permit from the city.

I'm currently shopping for new renters insurance and I'm a little confused. Geico said maybe, they'll call me back soon, when it came to being covered since I also airbnb.

I guess my question is, do you rent your property and also airbnb it? If so, what renters insurance policy do you have that covers damage and theft and all that fun stuff?

Tell your insurance agent that you plan on short term rentals in your rented apartment and he/she should be able to find something that works for you. A regular homeowner's insurance does not protect the property owner if they do short term rentals, but if the home is a 2 unit place, it will cover the long term rental portion of the property. Short term rentals, because they are made to strangers with little information are more of a liability, so special insurance is required. Once you rent your home as a short term rental, it becomes a business and your homeowner's insurance is void and the extra insurance is required. I believe that a renter's insurance would be similar, in that it willnot cover you if you take in a stranger for money.

I'm renting, so homeowner insurance isn't going to work.
