What is the purpose of the guest review if we can not see it? :)

What is the purpose of the guest review if we can not see it? :)

I can not help asking this question! What is the purpose of the guest review if we can not see it? 🙂

What makes the difference between Airbnb and other booking websites is the fact that, both the guest and host are reviewed.

If the hosts can not see anyway the guest´s review, it is no use to write a review on the guest´s profile anymore.

Did they change something? You can always see guest reviewes from others, even if they haven't booked with you yet. Why this questions?

@Helen-And-Mario0

May be there was a glitch. Yesterday, when I clicked on the link to the potential guest  profile, by clicking on the "no picture", it would not go to the guests profile.

It is just a discussion, to know if something was changed, or if a test was going on, if there was a glitch and whatsoever.

@J-Renato0,

You can see all by hosts written reviews on the profile of a specific guest. Same as you can see all by guests written reviews on the profile of a specific host.

@Emiel1

isn't this changed? I've heard now you can see guest's reviews only after the booking, not before. So if you don't have instant book and you receive an inquiy or request to book you can't see reviews and profile picture, you are one blind chicken

@Branka-and-Silvia0I am not aware of this change regarding reviews (yes, i know about the profile picture, it is hidden). But i can see reviews in a potential guest profile.

@Emiel1

then I misunderstood something ( I have instant booking option so I don't know )

@Branka-and-Silvia0

"I've heard now you can see guest's reviews only after the booking, not before. "

You've "heard"?  Where?  On here?  But you don't actually know the facts?  And you are happily spreading this around even though you don't know for sure?  There is a word in English for this kind of behaviour.  Actually, there are several words but the most common is: gossip.

It does a lot of damage.  Please stop.

wow  @Rebecca0  , good morning to you too 🙂

I've heard it here on CC, the same as you did..., and to quote YOUR comment  "...I have seen several posts on various threads that clearly state you can no longer see reviews or profiles..."

This post is not mine but @J-Renato0 's and  I just asked @Emiel1  is this changed. In my village, it's called conversation 🙂

I can still see guest reviews. How did you notice this?

There has been quite a lot of misinformation spread on here about the new no-photo-until-booked policy.  It's a shame because all it achieves, apart from needless scare-mongering, is to make hosts appear hysterical and therefore unlikely to have their (legitimate) concerns taken seriously by Airbnb.

You CAN see a guest's profile info (if they have any) when they make an enquiry or a request to book.

You CAN see a guest's past reviews (if they have any) when they make an enquiry or a request to book.

@Rebecca0,

We can only speculate on Renato's post, because there is little or no meaningful information, and what is written seems muddled and confused as you rightly suggest.

I can best speculate twofold:

1) It's possible there is a glitch of some sort, i.e. the system is not working ok, (Evidently there was a problem yesterday as a number of people posted that they could not process a booking).

2) If the Inquiry Renato received was from a new Guest or one without a Review; possibly in addition to no profile biog, then Renato would effectively have seen a blank profile save for any verification loaded by the Inquirer.

    Renato is almost certainly familiar with the new rule of no profile photo prior to a booking; and if this was his first experience of the new rule, he may have further adduced that no profile photo also = no review visible.

@Alon1  I applaud your logical approach but I have seen several posts on various threads that clearly state you can no longer see reviews or profiles and how our safety is compromised as a result.  In fact, it seems Airbnb will be responsible for us all being murdered in our beds because we can no longer see someone's photo before they book.

As you say, it is probable that hosts have had enquiries from guests with no profile info or reviews and have jumped (galactically) to the conclusion that Airbnb has removed this information.   The only conclusion I can come to is that they are a) very inexperienced hosts; b)  eager to jump on a perceived outrage bandwagon without checking facts, or c)  wilfully spreading misinformation to further their position.

Whatever, personally I have no patience or respect for people who shoot from the hip and ask questions later.  The damage is done and, as I said, any legitimate concerns are traduced.
