cancelling a guest who keeps changing their reservation

Hi Airbnb folks,

I have a guest who booked some time ago. It took her a week to figure out her exact dates and book, she is very chatty and friendly and grew up in the area. Then a week ago she changed her reservation 2x in one weekend claiming she had family visiting and that she needed to shorten her stay to meet them. I helped her through both reservation changes.  She had instabooked and I noticed that her one reference was actually not her specifically. She had been part of a group. I called her because she was having some difficulty with the online format and I it seemed a phone call might be easier and discovered she hadn't set up the voice mail on her phone and she has very few verifications. It made me nervous but I got her all set. Then a couple days we had a very strange email back and forth. She asked the shortest way and I told her giving her directions as well and I got a couple emails about how she knew the area like the back of her hand and just wanted to know the shortest way...which I had answered, so...I apologized for "being overy zealous in my attempt to be helpful" and didn't hear back from her. Today I got an email saying she is having a medical situation and may have to cancel and reschedule. AGAIN. So i sent her an email saying i completely understood and hoped she is feeling better and that everything is ok. Then I thought "i need to cancel with her, she is making me uncomfortable, and I"m an instabook host so I can do that...She is warning me she may cancel, and she is making me a little crazy" Then I thought a bit and decided if she is going to cancel that is best for me, and I just would not have her book again.  I ended up calling her and she seeeemed like its a legit medical thing, but I'm getting nervous about this booking and kind of want a way out. What would you do? I think she may be a pain in the butt, however she grew up in the area (Im in a small town) and I'm leaning towards gritting my teeth and pulling through. She is scheduled to get here in 6 days....

What's your cancellation policy?  If it's moderate (which I recommend) then if she cancels she has to pay you 50% of the booking.  So I wouldn't bother canceling her, I'd just let her cancel. However, if you really feel uncomfortable and don't want her in your house, cancel her.  I have found over my many years hosting that if a guest is like this then they are VERY high maintenance and leave terrible reviews after trashing the house.
