Airbnb unlisted one of my listings on 8/29 and sent me a message saying they were going to investigate. Never said why or what the accusations are. It does say it was the guest I had stay 8/13 - 15. That guest third party booked and had their girlfriend stay there. I told them when they booked it we don't normally allow third party booking because they do not follow the rules. He assured me she would and that he would relay the rules to her. I went to clean another room in the house and the shared living room smelled like marijuana. It was coming from that specific room. I messaged the guy that booked it and he did not respond. I then knocked on the door to the room. No response. Went back to cleaning, then later knocked on the door again. No response. Still no response from the guy who booked it. Considering I had a military employee directly across the hall and I knew they are drug tested, I needed the pot smoking to stop. So I wrote a message on a piece of paper and left the note on the floor in the room that said "Marijuana smoking is not allowed in this house. Stop immediately or I will cancel your reservation." There is no other way for me to contact this person (third party booked), and no one was responding. I then messaged the same to the guy that booked it. He decided to respond this time, and said he was offended and that she wasn't doing that. I told him she was and it was coming from that room, and I needed it to stop because military personnel were also staying there. He told me he would "make my place hot" and he was going to "tic tok my place for harassment." He then said "you just don't like weed." I called airbnb and they reviewed the messages and said I could tell them to leave. I decided she probably got the message to stop smoking and she was leaving the next morning, so I left it alone. She left me a written message with misspellings galore, calling me "ignornant" and that I needed to be "more gental to your guests." I reported the guy's threats to airbnb. I then gave him a review that included a 1 star for communication and blocked him from booking again. After I posted his review, my room was unlisted by the safety team for a safety concern he reported.
I thought retaliation was not allowed by Airbnb?
I contacted Airbnb right after they unlisted the room, told them this was retaliation, and told them what happened and the timing on it all. The "Safety Team" member Charlie said she was going to look into it and then said she was going to be out of office for 3 days and we could speak on September 2. I said I can't wait that long and need to get the place booked, but she no longer responded to messages. I called Airbnb 4 different times and no one could help or escalate or switch this issue to another representative. Basically, Charlie unlisted my listing then took 3 days off.
Is there any way to fix this? Is there any way to keep this from happening again, where a representative can just unlist my room without justification and out of retaliation from a bad guest, and then just leave? This is kind of ridiculous? I'm thinking about cancelling all 4 room's reservations for the rest of the year and long term renting it out to a group of students (that literally asked me today if they could). I just can't have this random unreliable behavior from Airbnb.
