Are fans required during a heatwave?

Does Airbnb require a host to provide a fan for guests during a heatwave?

On my last Airbnb stay in Paris there was a heatwave (95 degrees daily). There was no air conditioning in the apartment. I knew there was no AC but assumed there was be a fan. There was not. I requested one.

After a lot of back and forth, the host said he was off-site and would try to get one over the next day.  He did.  I assembled it and the problem was solved.  The host left a review saying while I was a good guest and left the apt. just as I found it, I was demanding. He repeated that I was demanding twice in the review.

I asked both the host and Airbnb to take the review down. They both declined.  What I asked for (demanded) something that I believe should have been provided by the host in a 95 degree heatwave.  I asked the host and Airbnb to take the review down. Both refused. The support team and the host said that since a fan wasn't listed he wasn't required to provide one. Therefore the review of me wasn't inaccurate.

I use Airbnb often. I rely on it during my travels. Having a negative review because I asked for something that should have been provided is wrong.

Two questions:
1. What is the Airbnb policy for fans (if there is no AC) during heat waves?
2. Can you remove the review?

@Steve3958 to answer your questions

1) There is no policy on fans. Hosts just have to provide what they say they will provide

2) No you cannot remove the review

But you can respond to the review so future hosts understand the circumstances of the review.

That's how it ended up.

Thank you for your reply.

If you want air conditioning then you need to book a listing that says it has such an amenity @Steve3958 .

No AC wasn't a problem. No fan was.

But thanks.

@Steve3958  You know what they say about assuming....AirBnB doesn't dictate to hosts what they should provide. It's up to the host. If they say they provide it but it's not available to you as a guest, then you have a legitimate issue. You can't "assume" anything just because you feel it should be there. Just because you believe that the host should provide a certain thing doesn't mean that the host has to.

You sound fairly demanding to me, given the way you presented this here.

Thank you for the laugh.
