Privacy concern panics

Privacy concern panics

Hello respected people,

I first time used AirBnb and since my parents are here from different country I planned to take airbnb for 30 days for a nice stay.

I was there before the night my parents are coming. Im 26yrs old and Im fine with smoke smell and all. On next day evening after my parents came home, they told they were loud music, weed smell and people dancing on trash bins and car tops. I immediately complained this is property owner and airbnb. As my parents are concerned and felt privacy issue I checkout of property on 6th day.

Now real problem is airbnb is like they need a video proof to refund. I never prepare my parents to take video so that we can ask later. What if someone come against or bang doors they need a video of it ? My fight for refund is going where they told only 35% will be refunded. Please help.

Sorry your parents had this experience.

I'm not sure if you are going to get any more recourse than you have.

Technically speaking there was nothing wrong with the property - but it sounds like of neighbours/surrounding area?

Did you book a superhost or someone with a low rating? Or with good reviews to ensure it was peaceful and quiet for your parents?

You can rate the property lowly for being noisy outside and disturbances, but I don't think airbnb will refund you the full amount. I would be surprised even if you did have video, but then again airbnb does usually favour guests over hosts.

It's why I never book long stays especially if its a new property I've never stayed at.

A few lessons learnt I suspect for you

All the best

Hello @Shashank35

this is a difficult one as you have made a third party booking which is against Airbnb's T&Cs

what did the host say when you raised these concerns with them? Is this a permanent resident that made the noise.

do previous reviews say anything about noise ?

under the cancellation policy you booked under you aren't entitled to a refund at all so if you want a larger refund you will need to demonstrate there is an issue and even then you may not be entitled to anything as the noise is outside of the property .

We have been to that area for first time and my only concern is there conversations like shouting tone and drinking and smoking scared my family.

Im not looking for complete refund. But I expect to return a considerable amount.

As I've already mentioned in my earlier post @Shashank35

1. you made a third party bookings against Airbnb's T&C so Airbnb don't have to support you

2. you aren't entitled to any refund under the long term cancellation policy you booked under

your best bet is to speak to the host to see if they will be flexible
