I have a couple of properties across Lahore, and looking to put them on Airbnb. There is a property in Nishat Colony, and one...

Hi all I need help please. I had guests show up 1.5hrs before check in. Cleaner wasn't finished and had left to get supplies. In the meantime they let themselves in and took keys. When she returned she was locked out. I sent them a message letting them know they had broken house rules and it was dangerous as some floors were still wet. I also contacted Airbnb. They sent me a horrible message saying they were given permission to enter by a man living on the same property. This was a total lie. He never said such a thing. They have been so arrogant and I can guarantee they will leave a horrible review. Of course Airbnb don't want to know...
@Siobhan103 Those guests were way out of line to do what they did, but it's important to have an airtight check-in process that doesn't allow for these kind of things to happen.
Thanks Andrew. I have now removed the self check in option until I can insert a new code device. It's a hassle but will hopefully stop this nonsense.
As I said the key was in the door as my sister in law who was cleaning had skipped out for supplies. When she returned they had been and gone with keys. They leave tomorrow thank god.
We live on a farm and it's quite relaxed in that it's easier to leave a key in the door as we're just too busy to meet guests and the cottage doesn't lend itself well to a coded lock
@Siobhan103 It's great to have a self-check-in option for those times when you're too busy to meet guests or their arrival time is just too inconvenient. Personally, if as a guest I chose a farmstay rather than a more conventional holiday rental, I guest I'd just assume that someone would be there to greet me and show me around on arrival - at the very least to be clear about what parts of the grounds I could explore, which were off-limits, and how to find the nearest walking trails. I understand that a working farm is not just a petting zoo for tourists, so i wouldn't expect to jump right into the animal pens, but a personal welcome would go a long way toward making the experience feel comfortable rather than alienating.
I think you need to inow the facts before you make a comment like that. We offer farm tours to all our guests and a large majority enjoy walks through the farm to meet all the animals. I then show them where they can go themselves safely. It's difficult to greet guests when they don't give you an ETA. We are too busy to sit around. I message them all the day before welcoming them in advance in case we don't get to meet. Out of all my guests to date I have met about 90% and shown them around. We have all the details regarding no-go areas in the welcome book so at no time is anyone alienated. Guests also get our home produce, ie eggs, jam etc but I rarely get a thank you for it!!!!!!!!!!
@Siobhan103 Thank you for the facts, but I was only commenting on my own expectations and preferences, not criticizing yours. You opened your post with "I need help please," but you didn't say what you needed help with. So all anyone can really do is say whatever comes to mind. If you don't like that, I guess you got what you paid for 😉
Hello @Siobhan103
i appreciate your frustrated but that doesn't mean it's okay to be rude to fellow hosts here who are trying to help you.
@Anonymous is an experience md host who provides great advice and has helped many hosts
it's unfair of you to indulge in name calling because you don't happen to like his suggestions.
Apologies Helen but I didn't feel it. I've have a bad enough day already
Hi @Siobhan103
I'm sorry to hear about this, it sounds like you've had a bit of a stressful experience, but I'd just like to remind you about the Community Center guidelines around being respectful and supportive.
The Community Center is home to lots of very experienced Hosts, like those who have been engaging with you here, and in this case they are just giving you the benefit of their experience. It's not meant to criticise anyone.
If there's anything specific that you needed help with, you could pop an update on your post just to clarify, and I'm sure you'll find support from our valued members.
Do you have an open ticket with Airbnb? If so, I can also pass your comments over to them, and that will hopefully get someone in touch with you.
Jenny
Thanks Jenny. I'll send you a PM.
