Should I Offer Compensation?
During my guest’s stay, the washing machine started making a constant high pitch tone. He did not tel me about it until today after checking out. He is a traveling medical professional who works during the day and has stayed a few other times. Apparently the sound isn’t as notable in other rooms. I have yet to figure out why it is making the high pitched alarm, but should I offer to compensate him for the constant sound of the alarm during half of his 4 day stay?

Thanks for your perfect response. As it turned our it was a carbon monoxide detector low battery alert. I am going to assume it was not that much of a bother if he let it go those 2 nights.

Thank him for letting you know and ask him to let you know was soon as something happens straightaway if there's a next time so you can deal with it when it happens .
I can't believe he was stupid enough to leave the machine running with a high pitched noise for half of his stay and say nothing/not attempt to turn it off. .

@Lisa990 This does demonstrate the need to change the batteries in detectors every year or you will disturb guests at some point. Especially as low battery alerts always start in the middle of the night.

@Lisa990. Lol. My washing machines only low tone beep at the end of a cycle with a message to "Have a Nice Day" with 🙂 emoji.
Makes you wonder if he's never tested a smoke alarm or burnt toast before. No compensation if he didnt contact you about it.
